Setting up groups


For larger classes, it can be helpful to set up groups within Cadmus. This will allow you to quickly filter the class list by group name, making your marking and moderation processes smoother.

Note: Before setting up groups, you must sync the Cadmus class list with the class roster from the LMS. If your LMS doesn't support roster sync, we'd recommend waiting until students have submitted and the class list is populated, before setting up groups.

Create a new group within Cadmus

With the class roster synced, you can now create new grading groups.

To create a new student group:

  1. In the My Class page, click Setup grading groups.

  2. Click Create a new Group.
  3. Input a name for the group.
  4. Optional (but recommended): Randomly assign students to this group. This is a quick way to create groups for grading.
  5. Click Create Group to confirm.

  

Edit a group

Once a group has been created, you can add and remove students. 

To add students to a group:

  1. In the My Class page, click Setup grading groups.
  2. Click on the group you’d like to edit.
  3. In the Ungrouped students panel (left), check the names of the students you’d like to add to the group.
  4. Click the Add users to group button to move students into the group.
  5. Click Update Group to save your changes.

To remove students from a group:

  1. In the My Class page, click Setup grading groups.
  2. Click on the group you’d like to edit.
  3. In the assigned students panel (right), check the names of the students you’d like to remove from the group.
  4. Click the Remove users from group button to remove students from the group.
  5. Click Update Group to save your changes.

 

Filter the class list by group name

Once you’ve set up grading groups within Cadmus, you can easily filter the class list by group name.  

To filter the class list by group name:

  1. Go to the Cadmus class list in the My Class page.
  2. In the filter menu at the top of the class list, click the Groups dropdown.
  3. Choose which group you’d like to filter the class list.
